Sniffspot Review

If you’re a dog owner, you may have experienced challenges at the public dog park. Maybe it’s other dogs that are a bit too aggressive, or maybe you just want more space for Fido to run around with the ball. You want the enjoyment of wide, open grassy areas but maybe not with so many dogs.

This is where Sniffspot comes in. The company connects dog owners with property owners willing to let dogs enjoy an off-leash experience.

If you have extra land, Sniffspot offers a way to turn that area into an income stream. Like many other gig economy opportunities, Sniffspot is offering a way to turn what you already have into cash.

In this article, we’ll look at how Sniffspot works for both hosts and landowners.

Sniffspot

Quick Summary

  • Sniffspot connects property owners with dog owners for an off-leash experience.
  • Only one pet parent can rent the space at a time.
  • Most spots are large, fully fenced areas designed for off-leash experiences.

What Is Sniffspot?

Sniffspot is a platform that connects dog owners with property owners. As the property owner, almost any kind of land or yard can be turned into a spot for pets to enjoy some exercise.

The platform’s founder, David Adams, started Sniffspot with the goal of making things better for dogs.

With more safe spaces, dog owners have more opportunities to meet their dog’s needs. Plus, dog lovers with some space available can turn their land into a passive income stream.

What Does It Offer?

Sniffspot offers a win-win for both dog owners and landowners to meet.

Dog Owners Can Find Space For Off-Leash Play

If you’re the owner of a reactive dog, you may understand the difficult task of finding safe spaces for your pooch to play. The main advantage of Sniffspot is that dog owners can find a safe area for an off-leash dog experience.

As you explore the listings, you can look for things like fully fenced options. Within the listing, you can see what size the area is and what amenities are offered in that particular spot.

If you are looking for new territory to explore with your pup, Sniffspot can be a helpful resource.

Passive Income Opportunity

It’s easy to see why pet owners seeking new spaces would like Sniffspot. But there is also plenty to appreciate from the host’s point of view.

As a host, you have an opportunity to turn your space into a passive income stream. You’ll need to do a little bit of setup to get the listing up and running. But after the initial effort, pet owners can book your spot without any interaction required.

According to Sniffpsot, some hosts are earning up to $3,000 per month from their unused land. The amount you can earn varies based on your location and the quality of your space.

As you get customers, you’ll receive a direct deposit of the proceeds each month.

Rules In Place To Protect Hosts

As a property owner, it’s easy to see some potential issues with this opportunity. After all, you don’t want to get stuck picking up after pet parents leave or dealing with a lawsuit.

The good news is that Sniffspot includes multiple rules to protect landowners from any thorny issues.

Here are a few of the key rules:

  • Liability and damage protection: When you host through Sniffspot, the platform provides $2 million in liability insurance and $5,000 in damage protection.

  • Pet parents clean up: Guests who bring their pets are expected to pick up after their pets.

  • Customer support: If you run into any questions, Sniffspot has a customer care team ready to help.

  • Vaccinations required: All pets who come to your space are required to have current vaccinations and be up to date on their flea and parasite prevention.

The protections in place can help keep you safe while renting out your space to new dogs.

Monthly Membership Options

You’ll even have the chance to provide a monthly membership option, which can build a regular revenue stream. Instead of having someone book individual sessions, they can pay for a monthly pass for a set number of sessions.

The different levels of membership include two, four, and eight hours.

As a pet parent, you can potentially save money by opting for a membership to an area that your dog loves.

Hosts can build recurring revenue stream from pet owners who love your space.

Are There Any Fees?

Yes.

As the pet owner, you’ll see a price per hour in the spot listing. You can expect to pay between $4 and $20 per hour per dog. If you have multiple dogs, all dogs after the first one are 50% off the list price.

If you are renting your land:

  • You can set the listing price between $4 and $20 per hour per dog.
  • If you don’t choose a price, the default price is $10 per dog per hour.
  • Take advantage of the Auto Pricing algorithm to adjust the price as demand for your spot changes.

When someone uses your spot, Sniffspot takes a commission of 24.9% plus 30 cents.

How Do I Contact Sniffspot?

If you need to get in touch with Sniffspot, you can email support@sniffspot.com.

You can also reach out via TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube @sniffspot.

How Does Sniffspot Compare?

While Sniffspot is a part of the growing gig economy, the ability to rent out your space to pet owners is relatively unique. However, there are other ways to turn your extra space or love for dogs into an income stream.

For example, Neighbor is a platform that connects people with storage needs to people who need extra space. Through Neighbor, you can make a listing for someone to store their personal items, vehicle, RV, boat, and more on your property. Like Sniffspot, you can build a passive income stream with space you already have on hand.

If you are looking for a more active income-earning opportunity, Rover might be a good fit for pet lovers. The app connects pet owners with people willing to pet sit. You can spend time with other dogs and get paid for it!

How Do I Open An Account?

If you want to rent your space through Sniffspot, you’ll start by providing some basic information. Be prepared to share your email, name, and location.

Here are four best practices for creating a listing on Sniffspot:

1. Add at least 10 photos of your space. High-quality photos can set your listing apart from the crowd.

2. Highlight any amenities available. A few popular amenities include drinking water for pets, a kiddie pool to cool off in, and a full-fenced area.

  • 3. Update your calendar availability. This is so renters can see what dates your land is open.

  • 4. Include any potential hazards and consider removing these from the area. For example, you might choose to remove all trash from the site and clear out any poisonous plants.

Once your listing is live, pet owners can book a visit directly through Sniffspot.

    Is It Safe And Secure?

Sniffspot provides multiple layers of protection for pet owners and hosts. As the host, you’ll be covered with a $2 million liability protection and $5,000 in property damage protection.

Beyond insurance, Sniffspot makes an effort to keep your personal information safe. The site will never post your full name, address, or contact information. When you need to communicate with guests, you can do so through the secure messaging system.

    Is It Worth It?

If you have the available space, Sniffspot could create a worthwhile passive income stream. While not every host will earn thousands of dollars each month, every little bit counts when you are building a stable financial future.

With the goal of passive income in mind, Sniffspot isn’t your only opportunity.

There are countless ways to build passive income. If you want to grow your passive income streams, consider these other options alongside Sniffspot.
