In reply to Kate. It really depends on your district and what you're coded for. You might qualify if your district signs off. However, the better question is, do you have $17,500 or less in loans, or is PSLF a better option? Many (most?) teachers will benefit more from PSLF and getting total forgiveness versus getting a small amount of money at year 5.

Odd question possibly but I’m about to finish my 5th year of teaching and I’m not sure if I possibly qualify for the $17500 since I am certified to teach both math and social studies. I taught math for two years out of the 5, though not this last year, so I’m not sure if that allows me to qualify for the higher amount since I only teach math courses when our school is in need.
