You would appeal to the ombudsman, but don’t panic unless your payments are found not to count. Just make sure you accurately fill out the form (including the FEIN of your employer, etc.), and then make sure you get the forms in ASAP.

We are also subsidized by the federal government, our state and the localities we serve. We also provide transit to students. The system is jointly owned by two localities. Because government entities in my state can not negotiate with labor unions, it was incorporated as Old Dominion Transit Management Company which manages the labor and Greater Richmond Transit Co. which owns the assets. When using the PSLF employer eligibility tool I’m told that my employer is not eligible. My HR department has been completing the PSLF applications for employees stating we are eligible. What should I do if after my application is reviewed I’m told my company is not eligible?

If your employer is the hospital directly (and it’s a non-profit), then you qualify assuming you meet the other criteria. You should apply ASAP and get your payment count.

Do I qualify?

You should get on an income-driven repayment plan. If your income is low enough, you may not be required to make any payments.
