All income-driven repayment plans come with loan forgiveness attached. You need to get on an income-driven repayment plan. If you have no income, your monthly payment could legally be as low as $0 per month. After 20-25 years (depending on when you got your loans), any balance will be forgiven.

Illinois doesn’t have a specific plan for law enforcement. But law enforcement employees should qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
