The California State Loan Repayment Program is a state-based option for nurses if you serve in special areas.

However, most nurses will benefit from Public Service Loan Forgiveness as long as they work at a non-profit or government hospital or health care facility. This can be anywhere in the state.

Assuming you meet the requirements for PSLF (loan type and repayment), you should be 7 years of 10 on your way to loan forgiveness.

Remember, it’s not about the degree or the work – but the employer. Assuming the employer is the county, you should be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
