The software has gone rapidly downhill. Two years ago, it way overcalculated my liability and I had to use a different software. This year, it calculated my liability as zero, which was definitely wrong. If I used H&R Block’s info I would have been audited and had a huge bill. I had to go with another software again because I didn’t want to get in trouble. H&R Block customer service is terrible and would not give me a refund, even when I explained the drastically different calculation with H&R versus the other software.

Using the online premium this year was the worst. You cannot see the tax forms to review until after it is paid for and submitted. It is all what HR Block wants to submit. In the end the tax payer is held liable for the correct filing. The software I used in the HR Block office allowed switching back and forth as you prepare to ensure it is correct.

If you know nothing about taxes this works. If you want to see whether the form is needed or not, whether it filled out the correct sections, even the premium version does not allow it.

I would never recommend using software that leaves you in the blind until after you send the documents. If it is wrong then you have to file manually an amended return delaying and possibly getting an audit.

This year, after entering essentially the same tax information, the are telling me that I need to upgrade to the Deluxe version ($49.95) to file Schedule B. Wasted my time with them. Time to try another company.

Last year I used their free software and had no problems. This year however, they totally screwed my taxes up. They said I didn’t qualify for the EITC which I definitely do, and wouldn’t allow me to claim the credit when I filed. Now I have to do an amended return because upon reviewing with the IRS, I do qualify. This has really messed up me up as I have been remodeling my home and this has pushed my timeline out causing my family to not have PG&E for a while now. I will never use H&R Blocks services again.

After waiting inordinately long on hold, I reach someone who then hears my issue and transfers me to… no one. I just sit on hold with no announcement on the anticipated wait time. I wait and wait, and no one answers. What an awful customer experience!!! TurboTax at least answers their phone calls. I cannot state enough just how AWFUL this experience has been.
