My direct deposit goes to the checking account. Unfortunately, the only ATMs in my area that don’t charge a fee to use is Walmart – Walgreens was in their list of no-fee, but not anymore. I cannot add money (like if I have a good chunk of cash) at any of the atms to add to my Chime, but mobile banking has been nice for when I get a personal check.

For a couple reasons, I have a back-up bank that I can go to in town – I have a separate savings and checking acct and transfer money when I need to (though it takes roughly a week or so to transfer). I can instantly add or take cash at a bank I can drive to, unlike Chime. Also, if I have any problems I can speak to someone, and not have to worry about voice prompts and someone possibly not understanding what I need, or problems not being resolved due to communication issues.

I used to get my direct deposit 2 days before pay day, but then my employer switched their payroll to a different company that doesn’t allow early pay, which really is a bummer. It was nice while it lasted, though.

Overall it’s a great bank and I haven’t had any issues with them, yet. I always suggest having another bank linked, just in case!

No limit. But you should be mindful of FDIC insurance deposit limits.

I had enjoyed it. Easy to use app, good savings rate, etc. some limitations like only one checking and savings account allowed but overall good.

Then the other day, put of nowhere I get a note that there is suspicious activity on my account which surprised me. I’m a direct deposit + pay credit cards type of guy. My banking is pretty boring so this was surprising. They sent an email asking for some things like a picture of my drivers license and my most recent activity. I sent it to them. They replied and said they were terminating my account and I had exactly 7 days to withdraw all funds. I requested a call because I’m still genuinely confused and had hoped to continue banking with them but they’ve refused to respond to emails or call me back.

So I started offloading my money into a different bank. They started declining those transfers out and REFUSED to give me my money. I was in total shock. I tried copying executives on my emails but I just got pooled support responses with a new rep trying to figure out my situation every time.

They now have a significant amount of my money and are telling me I SHOULD get a check from them in 30 DAYS!! So they refused to free up my money and collect interest on it while I’m out of pocket. I’ve never felt something so close to theft in my life. And it’s from a bank!!

Now, I’m totally done with them and wouldn’t trust them with a penny of my money. This is in the top 5 worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had and still don’t have an explanation. I’d be vary wary about trusting your money with Chime.

Chime doesn’t allow International Wire Transfers.
