The negatives depend on the setup. But, in general, you’re subject to the savvy of whoever is managing the fund or investment.

For a REIT:
– You own a big basket with no control
– You are sensitive to other’s withdrawals, liquidity, etc.
– You’re paying a management fee

For a limited partnership (i.e. you own a direct investment):
– You are 100% in a single property, subject to how management runs the deal
– You still need to vet the property and investment
– You also need to vet the management

What are the negatives to crowdfunded investing? The article seems to be biased towards doing it that way.

In reply to Gabriel. Of course. The ultra wealthy earn more from their investments than anything else. Plus, this is almost how you're expected to live in retirement. You save and invest now, so when you stop working in the future, your investments generate enough to live off of.
