After years of trying to get any decent customer service, dealing with misinformation from cussed service people, and continuous policy changes and conflicting instructions when I’m attempting to fund accounts, I gave up. Could no longer take the hassle and headaches and long phone waits for inept customer disservice personnel. Fidelity’s web interface is so much better and customer service actual knows what they’re doing. Unless you have something no more complicated than a savings account, I strongly DO NOT recommend CS.

Since I like to travel, especially internationally when available, Schwab works out well for me.

The best choice if someone doesn’t travel is Fidelity right now. Zero fee index mutual funds, and fractional shares of all ETFs & stocks.

Typically, to get a bonus, there is a funding window, and a payment window. Typically, you have 60-90 days or so from account opening to fund the qualifying amount, then the bonus is paid in about 30-90 days after that. So, you could theoretically be waiting about 6 months to get your bonus.

I helped my kids open brokerage accounts with their college graduation money because they supposedly had a $100 opening bonus. Three calls later and still no bonus posted to their accounts. I wish I had just had them use Merrill Lynch/Bank of America where our other accounts are.
