Hello,
I was granted the TPD discharge via the VA due to disability and am halfway through my master’s program. When I was notified, I asked them to delay my discharge and was advised that it would be postponed. I was emailed today to see that the federal government has paid off my Grad Plus loans. I still have two more years left! Although I know I can continue immediately (thank you for providing this info), will I be eligible to apply for loan discharge in the future?

In reply to Sarah. Assuming you're still going for undergraduate, you are still eligible for a Pell Grant after TPD (assuming you're Pell eligible otherwidse). However, most financial aid offices are going to be caught off guard, and you're going to have to reach out and personally make sure that you only go for Pell, and are not looking for other aid.

Can I apply for a fasfa after getting a tpd without losing it? I do not want a teach grant or a loan. I am interested in just Pell grant but don’t wanna apply and mess everything up with my disability because I am only going back to do 1 or 2 classes at a time slowly since I have my disability.

It’s been 22 years since I was granted disability, shortly after that my student loans were forgiven. If I work a part time job in the summer for approximately 1100 a month, will my loans be reinstated?

There is additional information on the TDP website. Apparently you can still qualify if you have been disabled and are reviewed every 3 years and have been disabled for over 7 years. You just have to show them the original award letter dated from 7 years ago.
