Correct, you simply use the AGI on your 1040. So you can lower your AGI by contributing to an IRA, HSA, 401k, etc. And that will, in turn, lower your student loan payment.

In other words, is my gross income reduced by contributions to an IRA? I know this is really old and you probably won’t see it, but thought I’d give it a shot.
