It’s never going to happen due to the fact that it makes too much money for them… COMPOUND INTEREST IS the problem everyone. It means that your interest is compounding daily, mine adds $7 a DAY adding $4,000 in interest in the last few years, YES, A DAY to my loan. The only way to pay your loans off is to pay out A thousand dollars a month. Get a second job, sell your stuff, downsize or get cheaper cars. If I pay off 1,000 a month, it will take me 3.33 years to get out $40,000 in debt. PAY OFF YOUR LOANS got to Dave Ramsey. He has proven plans that work for millions of Americans each month and year! Start somewhere instead of being lost nowhere worrying about this! You could be out of debt in a few years! YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK. I work a pt job through a temp agency, THEY PAY WEEKLY. I am earning an extra $1,000 a month and it goes to my debt, not my new sweater or more food, or my car payment. Stop meeting the status of expectation and giving all your money to someone else. We are the CONSUMER OF GOODS. stop consuming all the extras, stop going out to eat, new cloths, new dishes, new cars, new audio equipment, stop buying anything but necessities, Period. Stop using credit cards, they should not be part of your monthly income spending!! Stop waiting for someone else to take care of you for this. Take care of yourself by revamping your life and money choices. Inventory your kitchen, you will have at least one month worth of food you never eat! Stop stock piling consumer goods!!! what provide no net value to your retirement. Make a budget, stop buying 3,000 in gifts for Christmas. Stop and start taking care of yourself. No one else is going to pay your bills or stay up at night worrying about your student loans.

I consolidated my old FEEL loans to direct federal loans so they could qualify hopefully for the IDR one time credit for time. These were from 1999 – 2003. Then I have fed loans from graduate from 2011-2013. They are not consolidated together into one though. I guess that would require another consolidation. Guess will need to figure out if that makes sense or not.

Depends on the loan type and repayment plan. And if you consolidate, they new loan gets the shortest loan forgiveness period and maximum qualifying payment credits.
